Protecting Red Hawk Golf Resort: Stopping overdevelopment

Our quality of life is under assault! If the Lakes Course is allowed to be developed, it won’t be long before the Hills course suffers the same fate. Red Hawk is home to two beautiful golf courses, a premier destination for weddings, high school award ceremonies, and fundraisers. The Red Hawk pool is the only pool north of Alf Sorensen’s, where families create memories. These wetlands and open space for wildlife are second to none in our area. Beyond these reasons, consider the impact of 1200 homes to our already insufficient infrastructure and the negative impact to your property values. We must protect our quality of life; we invested in our community for the tranquility of this open space.

Rethinking the NE connector project

RTC claims 80% of traffic to USA Parkway originates North of I-80, the rationale for the connector. While this suggests a need for a bypass, granular data isn't available. "North of I-80" includes high-rise apartments and North Valleys communities – how would they access it? What's preventing a regional plan that includes rail commuter transit or innovative underground transit solutions like Elon's Boring Company? The technology exists without sacrificing our open space. I’m not convinced the NE Connector is in our community’s best interest; we need smarter, more sustainable solutions for Sparks.

Reopening Sparks Fire Station #5 at Golden Eagle

Local leadership in the Sparks Fire Department upholds a 6-minute gold standard for emergency response. Closing Fire Station #5 makes no sense, especially with more homes being built within its radius, year-round activities at Golden Eagle Regional Park, and a history of brush fires in the canyon. It’s puzzling how the city builds a fire station only to mothball it a few years later. We need to prioritize public safety and ensure our fire department has the resources to protect our growing community effectively.
